Fifty Shades Trilogy Summary, Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Freed

A few days I ago I finished reading the Fifty Shades Trilogy out of curiousity.

I couldn't help myself!  I kept hearing about the book nonstop!

I read a summary for the book and it said this book is
"Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever."

HOLY COW it really did become an obsession!  I managed to finish all three books in less than a week even with an eventful schedule from moving and attending  a weekend event.  Once you read Fifty Shades of Grey you will NEED to know more!

Fifty Shades of Grey is about Anastasia Steele, a senior at WSU who ends up interviewing multimillionaire Christian Grey only because her college journalist roommate Kate Kavanaugh is sick with the flu and begged Ana to interview for her.  Anastasia is clumsy, shy, innocent and intelligent and twenty seven year old Christian Grey finds himself interested with Anastasia Steele the moment they met in his office for the interview.  Anastasia is an ordinary girl which is why I think so many women can relate to her character.  Ms. Steele has never been in a relationship but she can't seem to get Christian Grey off her mind.  She doesn't know what to think of it since she never fell for someone before. Obviously they both are interested in each other and Christian Grey finds a way to see her again by visiting Anastasia at a hardware store Claytons  where she works. He flew all the way from Seattle to Portland just to see her but she doesn't know that, she doesn't think someone like him would ever like someone like her. Clearly Mr. Grey has got it bad for her! Christian has an extremely dark and different lifestyle which Anastasia is not accustomed to so the first book focuses on whether or not Anastasia is willing to change her lifestyle to be with Christian Grey.  Can she be the submissive lover Christian is looking for?  This book is naughty and erotic and addicting because you want to know more about Christian Grey and his past life! AND you want to know if Ana and Christian can develop this master submissive relationship Christian wants from Ana.

Fifty Shades Darker  gets even better!  You learn more about Christian Grey's pass and why he chose his lifestyle.  Anastasia and Christian develop a relationship but there are so many fights between them because they are so different.  They have communication issues because Christian doesn't share enough.  Ana feels insecure because she's never been in a relationship and doesn't think she can give him what he really wants. Christian is described as this gorgeous charming man and Ana considers herself average compared to him and women are constantly in awe of him which makes Ana uncomfortable. Also, Ana is having a hard time adjusting to Christian's wealth, she's never wanted wealth or a lavish lifestyle. Christian is too protective of her but for so many reasons that you will learn in the book.  Of all the books in the trilogy this is the one I found the most interesting!  So much goes on in this book!  There are psycho ex girlfriends, scary bosses, danger, and of course more erotic Ana and Christian details.
*My favorite are the cute emails they exhange with one another!  They are so witty, flirtatious and just plain cute!

Fifty Shades Freed Christian Grey is finally freeing himself from his inner demons, his past life.  Christian is learning to live his life free of his past life sorrows but an unexpected life changing surprise happens and Christian and Anastasia have a difficult time dealing with it.  Christian has more of a difficult time dealing with the unexpected news which causes a rift between them.  At this point you don't know what will happen.  Will Christian and Ana not work out after the unexpected news?  There is an epilogue and more information about Christian's point of view when he first met Ana, it is a must read!!!  Don't just finish the book, read the epilogue!

The book was such a fun obsession for a couple of days!  I love how the book was simply written!  Can't wait for more  E.L. James books!
I can not wait for the movie but will it be r-rated or NC-17? LOL! You get this if you read the book.  LOL!
I think Matt Bomer looks the part for Christian Grey since I watch his show White Collar. :D

For the role of Anastasia Steele I think Alexis Bledel is perfect!  She has the gorgeous porcelain skin, brunette with gorgeous blue bright eyes exactly as described in the book!  I was watching an episode of Mad Men and hardly recognized her as the cheating wife but once I took a good look I knew she would play the perfect Anastasia Steele.  She's young and gorgeous like Ana!

Have you read the book? What are your thoughts?

  12. There are a lot of people criticizing the trilogy for being poorly written, but like you I kind of appreciated the simpleness. For me the words sort of fell away and I just got swept up in the story. Also, no matter what the writing style, there's something to be said for a book that you can't put down...

  13. The picture April post if who should play grey reminds me of the scene In the book where Jose is taking his picture for Kate's newspaper article how ironic!

  14. Hi April - love your blog!

After reading the final installment of "Fifty Shades Trilogy, I was saddened. I loved the characters and wanted to read more. Rumor has it EL James is considering retelling the story from Christian's POV. What are your thoughts on that?

Your selection of who you think would be perfect to play Christian and Ana is fantastic! Up until recently I didn't know who Matt Bomer was. Think I read an article about him some time ago. I just saw him in Magic Mike. I have to agree with you about "Fifty Shades" it is an obsession! I loved the books and can't wait to see the movie! I read some chapters over, lol. I really need something else to read. Any suggestions?

  15. Hi April! Did you ever have Justin read this book too? I've tried convincing my husband to read it or just snippet of it but he's like "no way."

  16. Hi April!

I would have to agree to you selection of Christian Grey, since I do also watch white collar.
...But I don't want to the barrier of bad news..he's gay..and it just ruins it for me.That's if he gets casted.

  17. I love hearing/reading other peoples opinion about the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I am an obsessed Fifty Shades reader pretty sure I read the Trilogy at least 4 times if not more. I agree with you April, Personally my favorite book out of the three would most definitely be "Fifty Shades Darker" to me that's where the story actually starts to build and it really gets exciting my next two favorites would be a tie between both "Fifty shades of grey" and "Fifty shades Freed". I like your selection of who should be casted for the main roles but I'm leaning a little more towards Ian Somerhalder to play Christian sorry. Do you follow E.L James on Twitter I adivse any die hard Fifty shades fans to follow her she was recently in Seattle visiting major places she mentioned in the book like Escala, WSU university, the Heathman hotel ;) I was bummed out after reading the Trilogy. Pretty sure I'm still suffering from the Fifty shades blues. Any suggestions of good books to read?? Already read "Bared to you"... love ya April xoxo so glad I found your Youtube channel through Judy & Benji :)
